AmerenUE offers its residential and commercial natural gas customers rebates for the installation of certain energy efficient natural gas fueled equipment. Rebates are available to residential customers for programmable thermostats (up to $25) and natural gas furnaces (up to $200). Commercial customers are eligible for rebates of 50% of the cost of efficient natural gas equipment up to $475. All equipment must be Energy Star listed.  Customers should contact Ameren prior to making equipment purchases to obtain a reservation code for their rebate. Rebates up to $400 to Energize Your Home
City Utilities of Springfield Missouri provides incentives for its residential customers to increase the efficiency of their homes. Rebates are available for programmable thermostats, energy audits, insulation upgrades, HVAC equipment, efficient toilets and rain-sensing irrigation equipment. The HVAC rebates are available for single- and multi-family residential customers, but the other rebates can only be claimed by single-family customers. Columbia Water and Light, a municipal utility, offers rebates to its residential customers who make certain energy efficient improvements to their homes. Under the Home Performance with Energy Star program, rebates are available for windows, doors, and building insulation while rebates for air duct sealing are based on performance tests.  Each eligible measure has a maximum rebate and the total of all rebates may not exceed $1,000.   Newly constructed homes are not eligible for these rebates.  In order to participate in the program, customers must first have a Comprehensive Home Assessment performed by an approved contractor or by utility staff. $1,000 to Build Energy Saving Homes
Columbia Water and Light offers a flat $1,000 rebate to its customers for the construction of new homes that achieve certification as Energy Star homes. The Energy Star designation is give to homes that receive an 85 or less on the Home Energy Rating System (HERS) index.  The rebate is only available for new homes constructed after May 15, 2008. Participants are required to submit several types of verification documentation in prior to receiving a rebate and rebate applications must be submitted within 6 months of the completion of construction on a home. Low-Interest Loans for Energy Home Upgrades
The Columbia Water & Light (CWL) Super Saver Loans allow Columbia residents to finance energy improvements to their homes with affordable, low-interest loans with five year terms. The loans can be used to install insulation, heating and cooling systems, solar water heating and solar space heating. Co-Mo Electric Cooperative provides rebates to its residential members who install air source heat pumps and geothermal heat pumps. The geothermal rebate is $350 per ton and is available for any residential installation of a closed-loop ground-source heat pump. The air source heat pump rebate is $200 per ton. The air source heat pump must be Energy Star certified with a SEER rating of 14 or higher. Rebate levels increase with the efficiency of the system as measured by the seasonal energy efficiency ratio (SEER) for the unit. $850 for a New A/C and Heat Pump System
Kansas City Power and Light (KCP&L) offers rebates to its residential customers to help offset the cost of replacing inefficient central AC and heat pump systems with newer, more efficient models. In order to qualify for a rebate, the system being replaced must have an EER of 8.0 or less, as tested by a CheckMe!-trained HVAC contractor. The replacement of "dead" systems will not be supported under this program because these systems cannot be tested. New systems must have a minimum SEER of 14 in order to receive the basic $650 rebate. Systems with a SEER of 16 or higher can receive a rebate of $850.  Customers may qualify for basic maintenance services to help tune-up qualifying equipment, even if they do not purchase a new system. Free Thermostat Worth up to $300
Kansas City Power and Light (KCP&L) offers a free programmable thermostat, worth $300, to qualifying customers to manage their energy usage. Only residential and small commercial customers that have a central air-conditioning system are eligible to receive this incentive. Heat pump systems are also eligible if they are compatible with the new equipment. The system must also be pre-qualified by a KCP&L authorized technician. Kansas City Power & Light (KCP&L) offers rebates to its residential customers towards the cost of an Energy Star Home Energy Assessment and a portion of the installed efficiency improvements. Home assessments must be performed by a certified Home Performance with Energy Star contractor or consultant in order to qualify for a rebate. In addition, rebates will only be awarded to customers who install at least one of the efficiency improvements identified during the assessment and customers are limited to one rebate per assessment. Kirkwood Electric offers rebates to its residential customers who install energy-efficient heat pumps and electric hot water heaters in their new and existing homes. Customers will be given a rebate of $300 for each electric heat pump installed and an additional $100 for each electric water heater installed. The EnergyWise Dealer Program loans funds to qualifying residential and commercial customers for the purchase of energy-efficient gas furnaces, gas appliances and air conditioners.  Incentives are up to $10,000 with a 5% down payment. The program has an overall limit of four heating systems per customer.  In addition, the EnergyWise Dealer Program has been expanded to include low-income residential rental property managers. Ozark Border Electric Cooperative has rebates available to its residential members for the installation of energy efficient geothermal heat pumps, air source heat pumps, and a variety of home appliances. Geothermal heat pumps have a rebate of $750 per ton per metered account and must meet certain energy efficiency standards. Air source heat pumps have a rebate of $150 per ton, with a limit of 4 tons, per metered account. For both heat pump rebates, the system must be the primary heating system in the home. $2,000 Tax Deduction for Energy Audits & Improvements to Your Home
The state of Missouri allows homeowners to deduct from their income taxes the cost of home energy audits and energy efficiency improvements based on recommendations made in such an audit. The tax deduction is valid for expenses of this nature incurred on or after January 1, 2009. The deduction has $1,000 limit per individual or joint taxpayer return and a $2,000 cumulative limit per individual or joint taxpayer. All deductions must be taken in the year in which the expenses were incurred. Audits must be performed by a home energy auditor certified by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources (DNR). $1,500/Appliance is Exempt from Sales Tax
The state of Missouri is offering consumers a seven-day exemption from sales taxes on certain Energy Star certified new appliances up to $1,500 per appliance. Lots of Incentives for Energy Improvements in Your Area
The Platte-Clay Electric Cooperative offers its members several different incentives that support energy efficiency improvements in buildings within its service area. Members that wish to install air- or ground-source heat pumps are eligible for a $300 installation rebate and a $0.01/kWh rate reduction for electricity purchases larger than 200 kWh between October and May of each year. Customers must have an electric water heater and a non-electric furnace in order to be eligible for this program. Customers may also receive a free (Freedom) or discounted (Marathon) replacement water heater by signing on to a $2.50/month, 3-year utility sponsored water heater servicing program.
