100% Exemption from Property Taxes
Puerto Rico provides a property tax exemption for all material, equipment or accessories that use solar energy to operate. Tax Deductions Totaling $3,500 for Green Projects
Puerto Rico offers a 30% tax deduction (up to $500) for expenses incurred in the purchase and installation of solar equipment for residential use.  An individual who claims the deduction must enclose with his or her tax return a certificate stating that the solar equipment has been approved by the Puerto Rico Department of Natural and Environmental Resources, and a certificate stating that the solar equipment purchased has a warranty of five or more years.  In addition, Puerto Rico offers a 50% tax deduction (up to $3,000) for expenses incurred in the purchase and installation of a wind turbine to produce electricity for residential use. The equipment must be manufactured in Puerto Rico, or must have at least 50% of the cost added by local manufacturing.  Contact:  Department of Natural & Environmental Resources, Energy Affairs Administration, P.O. Energy Incentives for the Virgin Islands
The Virgin Islands Energy Office's renewable energy and energy efficiency rebate program provides incentives for Virgin Islands residents and businesses to install Energy Star appliances, solar technologies and wind turbine generators.  Incentives are:  
*    PV: $3.50 per W (limit 1 kW)
*    Solar Water Heat: $500 to $1,000 varies by size
*    Wind Turbine Generator: 20% off purchase price (up to $3,500)
*    Sine Wave Inverter: 15% off purchase price
*    Room Air Conditioners, Ceiling Fans, Clothes Washers and Refrigerators: 20% off purchase price
To be eligible for these rebates, the equipment must be purchased from one of the approved vendors listed in the program details.
